Never Compromise.

Building businesses and a plan for my family, in public.

Three businesses in the works, each one run on a written plan and a weekly check. If you're building something on the side, starting out in the trades or in a hard season, I'll help you do the same, with straight talk.

Founding clients: the first five Reset Calls are free, in exchange for honest feedback.

How It Works

The Build Method

Every business I build runs on four steps, and so does every plan I help draw. You don't guess. You measure, follow a plan, check your work and adjust.

1

Measure

Where are you, really? Three questions by email before we talk.

2

Plan

We pick your next three moves and put a date on the first one.

3

Check

Every week: what moved, what didn't, and why.

4

Adjust

Change the plan, not the goal. Keep going.

Life Consulting

Pick Your Lane

I only coach what I've lived. If you need something else, I'll tell you, and point you to someone better.

Side Business, Real Systems

One offer, a fair price, a weekly schedule you can keep and a simple tracker for jobs and money. When to stop, and when to grow.

Lived itThree businesses in the works, room-rental houses owned and sold, and a 5-car rental fleet, all set up around a full-time job.

Into the Trades

Is a trade right for you, and which one. Finding an apprenticeship, showing up like a pro in year one, and getting from helper to journeyman.

Lived itA formal apprenticeship to journeyman, then about ten years in the trade.

Smart Car Ownership

Buying used without getting burned, a maintenance plan and a car fund, and reading a repair quote before you pay it.

Lived itASE student-certified (entry-level) auto tech; ran a 5-car rental fleet.

The Hard Season

When several things go wrong at once. Sort what's urgent from what's loud, put the next three moves on paper with dates, and have someone check in every week.

Lived itKnocked flat more than once; a plan on paper got me moving.

Money topics stay basic and educational: a bills calendar, a simple budget, saving for a goal. I don't do credit repair, debt settlement, investing or tax advice.

About

Built on Purpose

I'm Alexander Koontz, an entrepreneur from Chesapeake, Virginia. I'm building Koontz Mobile Auto, Koontz Handyman Services and Koontz Consulting, and the systems that run them, in public, one piece at a time.

I've owned and sold room-rental houses. Single-family was too slow for me, so multifamily is next. I ran my own 5-car rental fleet. Engines failed, two cars hit deer and some renters didn't pay, so I shut it down and kept the lessons.

The long plan: businesses, then real estate, then teaching the next generation how to keep building. A decade as a journeyman machinist taught me to measure, plan and check, and that's how I run every piece of it. Not motivation: a plan on paper and a weekly check.

The Code

Five Rules I Build By

  1. I

    Measure Before You Cut

Know where you really stand before you change anything.

  2. II

    Write It Down

A plan in your head is a wish. On paper, it's a plan.

  3. III

    Boring Wins

Simple and repeatable beats exciting, every time.

  4. IV

    Check It Every Week

What moved, what didn't, and why.

  5. V

    Never Compromise

On your word, your work, or the people counting on you.
